When I was keynoting at an event recently, I learned about a company that distributes insoles that help people who stand for long periods of time relieve their back pain or any other pain for that matter. The company that distributes the insoles, Happy Feet, LLC, positions the insoles as “personal mats” for the feet.
I really thought this was an ingenious way to allow corporations to see the benefit of using these personal mats over the large mats they need to use in their factories.
When the owner of the company heard me speak, she realized that the insoles were actually a shade of green and really needed to be making the employees and companies aware of this. What was amazing was that this owner decided to manufacture her own insoles that were even greener and outperformed the ones she distributed. She told me, “after hearing you speak, I went out to look at my supplier who was manufacturing my new insoles. I new they were green, but I had no idea how green they were. I was amazed and excited to see this company was built off a green foundation. I knew I needed to be incorporating this philosophy and positioning into my company as well.
I’ll be covering this story further in my next blog post, so please check back with me soon. I’d like you to hear why I think this company's green positioning could work for other companies.
